Todd Edelen - President
The club’s current Present, has been a member of the St. Charles Bears since 2001. All 3 of his sons have gone through the club’s football program since each were the age of 5 yrs until advancing to high school programs. He’s served in the capacity as a coach since 2003, coaching from Ankle Biters to 10 – 12 age group levels. Todd’s record as a head coach is impressive: 6 President Cup Championship, 9 County Champions, 5 Bi-county Bowl Championships, 1 NAYFC Championship, and 3 time Maryland State finalist. His belief, “Take care of the little things and the big things will take care of themselves”.
Damien Wood - Vice President
Damien Wood has been an integral part of the club since 2005. He started as an assistant coach on the Anklebiter team under Coach Todd Edelen, while coaching his two sons. In 2009, Damien became the Head Coach of his youngest son's team, continuing to instill the values and work ethic he acquired as an assistant coach. Throughout his journey, Damien has learned valuable lessons from his coaches, parents, and players, emphasizing the importance of being a great listener and having patience through the process.
Under his leadership, the team achieved significant successes, including winning their first of many President Cups and County Championships in 2011. They continued their winning streak for the next four years, clinching back-to-back County Championships and President Cup Championships. At the 12U level, they even secured a National Championship and Division 1 State Championship in 2011.
Recognizing Damien's dedication and contributions, he was voted in as Vice President of the organization in 2013. As the VP, Damien took on various responsibilities, especially in fostering positive parent relations. His involvement in the club has been invaluable, and his commitment to the sport and the growth of young athletes is evident in his multifaceted role within the organization.
Coach Jimmy has been involved with the St. Charles Bears since the summer of 2008. At that time, he joined the 85lb team as an assistant coach. After spending several years as an assistant, he was voted in as a head coach of the 7-9 Jr. team in 2012. He has been serving as a head coach ever since.
Coach now serves as the Director of Operations for the Club. Coach Jimmy played football for Eleanor Roosevelt High School where he was named Captain his senior year. He went on to play for Montgomery Junior College. After Montgomery college coach joined the US Navy where he proudly served 4 years’ sea duty on 2 naval ships. In 1992 he was awarded a metal for serving in the gulf region during Operation Desert Shield.
Coach applies his past experience in relating to his players. He teaches his players the importance of discipline and teamwork. He believes these lessons transcend beyond the field of play. His prayer is that he is a positive influence to the youth now and after they move on from the club.
Corey Ware is the current Treasurer and Defensive Coordinator for the 9U Bears team and has been a member of the organization since 2003. Corey is entering his 21st season coaching alongside current president, Todd Edelen. Corey has 3 children, 2 football players and 1 cheerleader, that have participated with the organization from age of 5 until the start of high school. Like president Todd
Edelen, Corey has accumulated 6 President Cup championships, 9 County championships, 5 Bi-County championships, 1 NAYFC championship and 3-time Maryland State finalist.
Corey is known for his aggressive and tenacious defense, that has inspired many to pursue the sport after their stint as a member of the Bears family. Corey is famously heard across the field and into the rafters since 2003,
pumping up and inspiring his team to chant a call and response, created by the God Father of GO-GO, Chuck Brown… “WIND ME UP Coach! SAY WHAT? WIND ME UP COACH! A LITTLE BIT LOUDER…WIND ME COACH! I CAN’T HEAR YOU!
Corey’s motto is, if I’m able to instill confidence, skill and discipline to
enable 1 kid to be a better person, not just in football, but in life, I have done my job!
Bridget Lover joined the St. Charles Bears in 2005 with her three daughters and has been coaching cheerleading for 16 years, since 2007. Her Granddaughter is currently a cheerleader for the Bears. Coach Bridget coached children ranging from 5-13 years of age.
Coach Bridget is a Resources Management Advisor at the National Guard Bureau and has been an Air Force civilian for over 30 years.
Coach Bridget's hobbies are shopping, cooking, and playing with her six grandchildren.
Larry Johnson is in his 4th year Coaching with the St. Charles Bears and is the Head Coach of the 9U team. Coach Larry played for the St. Charles Bears from the ages of 7-11. He played Division IAA College Football with the Lafayette Leopards and was #2 in the nation in Kick Return yards per return his senior season.
Coach Larry is a District Content Specialist for Charles County Public Schools serving students in grades Pre-k-12. He is also a national Staff Developer for AVID and trains teachers across the country.
Outside of coaching and his career, he is a professional photographer and music artist.
JuJuan Campbell is the cheer coordinator for the St Charles Bears. She has three children whom have all participated in the St. Charles Bears organization. Two of her older children are now college graduates and her youngest daughter is currently a cheerleader for the Bears.
JuJuan has been an active member of the St. Charles Bears since 2004 and immediately started out as a team mom and matriculated into coaching. She has also been an active board member for over ten years.
She has led her amazing teams to undefeated seasons with multiple championships, as well as taking the St Charles Bears to preform at local NFL games.
JuJuan is the coach teams couldn’t wait to see every year at competition because SCB always gives a show and is well known for fun competitions when hosting. She loves working with children and seeing them grow into amazing athletes and all around great citizens.
JuJuan's true goal is to continue to inspire young athletes to believe in the process and inspire others.
